Creativity & Human Design: Jack Whitten
Art is our compass to the cosmos . . .
Art is our compass to the cosmos.
I probably should be ashamed that I've never heard of Jack Whitten or seen his work. I mean really, I went to art school, I've been a practicing artist for decades, art is my industry. Nonetheless, I continue to be surprised by how little I actually know about the world of fine art.
Give the nature of Whitten's work, it's especially surprising to me that I haven't come across it before. Because he's a real materials guy. He loved to push the boundaries of paint, creating many unique ways of working with it over the course of his career. That's an approach that really speaks to me.
Inspired by this MoMA video, I went and looked up his Human Design chart and recorded a few musings about aspects of his creative process and how it correlates to his design.
I hope you too get a glimpse into a fascinating world and a mind that sends you off curious to explore more.
