Though we routinely conflate the two, being creative is not the same as making art.

Humans are inherently creative. You are inherently creative. You don't have to be A CREATIVE to be creative.

Creativity is "the ability to make or otherwise bring into existence something new, whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new artistic object or form."

So each time your kid is hungry and you make them something to eat you are engaging in a creative act. Is it artful? That's up to you.

Your experiment for the day: As you go through your day, look at what you do—no matter how mundane—as a creative act. Every conversation, PB&J, email—they are all ways you are bringing something new into existence.
