A Message to the YOUest You
Hello You!
There's more and more evidence that not properly experiencing and releasing out emotions is one of the major sources of our anxiety, depression and dis-ease.
We forget that we are biologically animals. We are designed to have brief spikes in fear and anxiety while we're being chased by predators.
When animals escape capture the first thing they do is a full body shake. They are literally shaking out and off the rush of adrenaline and anxiety.
We should do that too. But we don't. We push our emotions down in the moment and then we 'forget' about them.
But our bodies don't forget. In fact, as Bessel van de Kolk would say, Our Body Keeps the Score.
Feeling and releasing your feelings is one of the way you make space to become the YOUest.
Your experiment for the day: When that jerk at work drops more stupid work your desk today, give yourself a moment in a private spot to just do a full body shake for like 15 or 30 seconds. See how you feel.
Go be the YOUest today!
