It's easy to look just about anywhere today and see brokenness.

All the systems, institutions and people who once may have seemed stable are clearly not any longer.

Instability has been sold to us as a problem needing attention, but the truth is, life is inherently unstable. Change is the only constant.

Chaos is a word we use a lot in these times. Usually in it's current sense of disorder and confusion. What we miss, however, is that in its original Greek, Chaos was the primal feature of the universe, a shadowy realm of mass and energy from which much of what is powerful in the world would stem forth.

Chaos is generative. Life is a constant cycle of birth, growth, decline and death.

Leonard Cohen reminds us: "Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. It's how the light gets in."

Your experiment for the day: What broken thing catches your attention today? Ask yourself, does it need fixing? What light is getting in?
