It's interesting how invested we can be in our opinions.

Like, these are literally just thoughts. And if you've been human for any amount of time, you're probably pretty clear that thoughts are ephemeral at best.

It's nonsensical when you really stop to think about it. The same brain that can't remember what to get at the grocery store will argue about the color of a dress on social media for days.

Further, we rarely stop to examine if our thoughts and opinions are even ours.

So much of what is in our head is received from others, yet we hold on to some of 'our' opinions like they define us.

I don't know if humans have always been this way, but it seems like we're living through a stretch of time where people are way too identified with what they think.

Here's the thing—it's totally cool to have opinions. Having your own thoughts is part of how you become the YOUest.

Just consider using your energy for discerning what's really yours instead of defending what might not even be.

Your experiment for the day: Pay attention to where you feel the need to defend your opinions today. Pause and ask yourself two things. 1. Is this really even MY belief or something I picked up from others? 2. Why do I feel the need to defend it?
