Love Note 4.12.24 💚

I read something the other day that said we live in an 'expectancy system' and that it was a fundamental corruption of the human spirit.

That really resonated for me. Especially since one my favorite taglines for years has been, "The key to happiness? Low expectations."

I say it jokingly, but I really mean it. And I try to practice it.

It's not that we can't see the ability that people have to do great things. They can and do all the time. But we don't have to EXPECT them to.

We can see the potential without needing to be attached to their realization of it.

Of course, most of our expectations revolve around what we expect others to do for us.

These expectations are dashed constantly. And rightly so.

Really, do any of us really want to be beholden to anyone else for any reason? It's a big 'no' for me.

It's not that I don't want to do things for others. I love to help where I can. But I don't want it to be expected of me.

There's a big energetic difference is an offering and an obligation.

Your experiment for the day: For the next few days notice when you find yourself in the 'expectancy system'. Whether you have expectations of others or they of you, see if some of these agreements can be renegotiated to offerings instead of obligations.
