I love this quote from E.O. Wilson:

"The real problem of humanity is the following: We have Paleolithic emotions, medieval institutions and godlike technology."

Nothing sums up the modern condition quite so accurately.

For all intents and purposes, our nervous systems think we're still living on the savanna with stone tools as weapons.

So, asking for that raise you've deserved for over two year now feels exactly as daunting as being chased by a lion.

But it's not true. Very few of our fears in this world are existential. The worst thing that could happen is the boss says 'no' to your raise.

Fear is an chance to see where the next growth opportunity is on the path to being the YOUest.

Your experiment for the day: Identify a small fear that has kept you from doing something that keeps calling to you. Spend a couple of minutes sitting with that fear. Maybe even ask it where it came from and what it's hoping to accomplish. Then make a plan to do the thing anyway.
