As Pisces seasons opens on Feb 18th, the heavens are raining down crazy amounts of emotional energy. The final moments of Aquarius season offer us the first Solar Eclipse of the season. The Sun and New Moon conjoin in Gate 30, arguably the most fiery of emotional energies in the bodygraph. It’s filled with desires as well as a fear of the fates. As with all eclipses, this moment marks the energetic signature of the full eclipse season. The Gate of Feelings is not only full of desire for new experiences, it connects in the bodygraph to Gate 41, Decrease. This just happens to be where Pluto is ensconced for the next two years. The Channel of Recognition will be on offer to the full collective for much of February and March, meaning that you might definitely feel a push toward fantasy or a hunger for something new. This potential for new emotional experiences is the fuel of our evolution. It can also be a place where we can get caught up in our fantasies, desires and expectations in a way that leaves us feeling empty and bereft.

All of this emotional energy is flooding in even before we officially enter what’s often considered the most emotional of the zodiacal signs. From a Human Design perspective, Pisces season begins the moment the Sun enters Gate 55, Spirit. This archetypal energy is all about learning that an abundance mindset is built through a long series of personal experiences. As we search for our own true spirit we are faced with the full range of human emotions. Though challenging, this is the required fodder for coming to know our own unique spirit and recognizing the ups and downs of life don’t have to impact our sense of abundance. Instead, we learn about the transitory nature of everything and begin to see that enoughness comes from within and is directly tied to the ability to be with what is.

I’m particularly interested in these few days between February 18th and 23rd because it actually brings together two prominent aspects of old and new paradigm energy. The North and South Nodes have been sitting in Gates 37 and 40 respectively, which has been defining the Channel of Community in our bodygraphs. This is a particularly powerful tribal energy that has defined life on earth for the last 400 years. This urge to come together to build community, economies and institutions has driven so much of our collective lives, yet next year that is all changing. The Global Cycle will shift from the Cross of Planning to the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix, where Gate 55 and it’s polarity partner Gate 59, Intimacy will fundamentally change the background energy for the next 400 year cycle.

So, for this week we will feel both energies pushing and pulling us. The push to create community is particularly strong right now, but everyone seems to be looking for ways to do it that feel more inclusive, more discerning and allow us to keep our personal sovereignty. Our communities of the past were very much co-dependent, but the energy of Gates 55 and 59 are here to show us how to maintain our own individual spirit while also allowing for natural and supportive interdependence. This is no small task. I fully believe that the reason we are in this moment of global upheaval is because we are navigating the interstitial space between these two worlds. The question that shows up for me around this specific transition is, “How do I activate my unique gifts and talents, offer them in support of others without being co-dependent?”

All that and you’ll only just be through the first week of Pisces Season! The Sun still has Gate 37-Friendship, Gate 63 (Doubt, the only Head energy of the season), Gate 22-Openness/Grace AND Gate 36-Crisis/Darkening of the Light to traverse. If you’ve ever wondered why this last bit of winter can feel so long and fraught, I’m here to suggest the Sun’s journey through the Emotional Solar Plexus as a possible cause.

The Sun in Gate 37 presents us with yet another week that pushes on this ending and beginnings of the Global Cycles. The Gate of Friendship is an emotional gate that is doing just that—looking for community and togetherness for reciprocal love and support. As the Sun enters this space it will be conjunct the North Node and the Earth activation will be conjunct the South Node in The Gate of Aloneness (40). So I wonder if this Channel of Community that has defined the globe since 1615 will feel particularly alive for us between the 23rd and the 1st of March. This may be a time when you feel a push to re-examine relationships or notice a hesitancy to meet new people, or you may even experience a real sense that there needs to be some renegotiation within your current communal ties. Though I can imagine this may all feel a bit fraught, I have a sense that this energy is here to help support our transition into this next Cycle.

Like I mentioned above, Pisces season is generally seen as an emotional time. I’d like to offer hope that this year it will all feel more even keel, but that doesn’t seem to be on offer. As the Sun is frolicking through this part of the sky, each of the personal planets—Mercury, Venus, Mars—are also transiting Pisces. That said, on March 1st, the Sun moves into the only non-emotional Gate in the season. Gate 63 is in the Head center and is a logical energy that is looking for meaning and answers to create understanding. Yet, the gate is called Doubt and the Hexagram, After Completion, has dubiousness built into the process of examination and questioning. Doubting eventually leads to logical clarity, but this all makes me think that between March 1st and 6th we’re likely to be doing a bunch of soul searching, sense making, and experiencing a generally heightened emotional state in search of understanding ourselves and the world. As much as possible, take a break from too much news and outside information. There’s already a ton to process internally and using this time to stay with the last bit of slower winter energy could be a real boon to your nervous system.

In a lunar eclipse, the Moon and the Sun are exactly opposite each other in our sky and the Earth gets between them. This means the Earth’s shadow falls on the Moon, darkening it. For this lunar eclipse the Moon will be in Gate 64, Confusion and the Sun in 63, Doubt—setting the tone for the season. These two are ending/beginning points in the I Ching—Before Completion (64) and After Completion (63). This tension between these two final Hexagrams in the series again highlights the moment we are living in, namely the ending of an old way and beginning of new ways. The Moon in 64 is asking us to bring the useful experiences of the past forward, while the Sun in 63 is urging us to sort through and release the behaviors, patterns and received wisdom that no longer serve us.

On March 6th Jupiter retrogrades from Gate 53, Beginnings into Gate 39, The Provocateur where it sits when it stations direct on March 11. This creates a brief 10 day window where the energy from Jupiter is fueling the individual impulse to provoke the spirit in us all. The Provocateur pushes against obstacles in the way of our emotional freedom. I picture this brief energetic surge in the midst of the rest of Jupiter’s journey through Gate 53 as additional fuel for starting a new, and hopefully better, cycle. It’s like this beneficent body is nudging us to rise to the challenge of the moment and find the essential spirit of what it means to be fully human. We are currently learning about the full spectrum of humanity through the difficult lessons of what deep inhumanity looks like. Use this individual provocation to see what dragons you’re ready to slay and what’s ready to be started anew. All of this will be further supported through the upcoming spring equinox, which is yet another natural beginning. When the Sun enters Gate 25 on March 18th you may be really aware of this triple-decker club sandwich of beginnings & endings in our collective lives.

The New Moon happens on March 18th at 9:24p EST in Gate 25, Innocence. Arguably my favorite of all the Gates, 25 is the archetypal energy of Universal Love. It sits in our Identity center and carries both love and direction toward initiating a more heart centered existence for all beings.

The Sun, New Moon and Neptune are all in Innocence looking for the direction of universal love through naturalness and authenticity. This knowingness doesn’t come without testing, however, making this gate closely associated with the Spiritual Warrior. It may be because I carry this energy, but I really feel this activation within the collective at the moment. Even though our legacy media constantly shows us the opposite of stuckness and complacency, even a brief investigation into alternative ways of approaching life show us so many creative examples of universal love and connection to the higher self as alive and well among the masses. I’ll note that it is also true that with Neptune sharing the space in Gate 25 during this stretch, these lovely energies may feel obscured and less accessible to you.

The disciplinarian of the zodiac, Saturn will have just left Gate 25 and moved into Gate 17 which is a logical mental energy seeking to make meaning and form opinions. Saturn has been repeating the hard lessons of all the many ways we have NOT been universally loving each other since 5/5/25 (interesting numerology!). Now it is offering us the support for making logical assessments to formulate useful opinions on how to more bravely walk together into our shared future. Saturn in 17 is creating a logical and ‘safer’ connection to this idea of universal love that has been eschewed in modernity. I wonder if it is going to help us re-learn that it is logical to care for the planet; it is logical to see the other as myself; it is logical to see love as foundational. I feel like Saturn here is giving us the ability to bring common sense and reason back into the love-as-foundational conversations that modernity has long pooh-poohed as woo-woo.

If the theme of emotionally charged new beginnings isn’t already abundantly clearly on offer these next few weeks, there is yet another corroborating piece in the cosmic puzzle. I can’t believe this is actually true, but on March 18th Venus steps into the Gate of Shock (51) completing the Channel of Initiation between the Will and Identity centers. This centering energy can spur people to take bold action and leaps of faith. Coming just as the Sun steps fully into Equinox energy, I wonder if this connection between the New Moon and Venus will initiate us into a new way of being with one another. This is the willpower to respond to disruption and disorder by standing one’s ground. Again, the Spiritual Warrior for love energy is on offer with Venus tapping into our shared values. This is the power that’s willing to go the distance and do whatever it takes to enhance the connection between our material plane and our higher self energy. This moment is bold and courageous and may be calling forth all the divine anger on the planet to stand up to the forces of darkness. 

If that feels like an overwhelming bunch of emotionally charged information, I share that perspective. I can’t really sugar coat what seems to be heading our way in the next few weeks, but as with all of life, let’s just agree to meet it one day at a time. Forewarned is forearmed, as they say, so with this bit of a heads up and a practice of daily titration, I think we’ll not only all get through it just fine, I suspect we’ll land in Aries season feeling lighter and ready to move forward with some fresh insights and perspectives.
