Good Thing Now: How to Fall in Love with the Future
Our imagination is our best technology . . .

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited; imagination encircles the world.
In the studio this week I listened to Rob Hopkins time travel to the future to see how well things are going. According to Rob, they are going excellently. He reminds us that our negative view of the future is just a choice. We have allowed the forces of destruction to limit our dreams, colonize our future and stifle our imaginations, but we can choose otherwise.
The Upstream interview reminded me how susceptible our brains are to whatever is coming our way. If there is a constant stream of chaos and despair, we very easily come to believe that's just the way things are and the way they will always be.
These prolonged trauma stories put our nervous systems in flight/fight/freeze states. This protective mechanism limits our cognitive function. When we can't think, we can't imagine our way out of the current predicament.
This is why joy, hope and pleasure are so vital to our well-being. Accessing even short bursts of quiet, safety and contentment allows us to reconnect to the most powerful technology we possess—our imaginations. In this video Rob walks us through a "What if" exercise that can help us tap back in to our original technology. I'd love to hear what comes up for you.
Rob is doing all sorts of beautiful work from podcasts to books to trainings to help us practice the future and train our imaginations for a more vibrant life.
When I looked up Rob’s Human Design chart it was easy to map his dedication to envisioning a more just, harmonious and abundant future back to his energetic blueprint.

Though I don’t have his exact time of birth, the aspects I’m focused on are the same all day long, so we can look at these pieces with confidence as part of his Conscious energy.
Starting at the top of the right hand column of planetary alignments, Gate 15 as his Personality Sun carries the energy for the love of humanity. This is a collective energy with a desire to change a repetitive cycle. Gate 15 shows up again in his Mars placement, bringing a fiery energy to act, start new things and overcome any obstacles when it comes to caring for and nurturing this deep love. If you listen to even a tiny bit of his work, you can see that he is working hard inspire people to interrupt the systems of corruption and greed that are destroying our ability to imagine a vibrant and healthy future.
His collective love for humanity is grounded in his deep connection to his soul’s purpose and direction in Gate 10. This energy is all about the ability to stay true to his authentic self. This is not a person to go along to get along. And with two format energies, Gates 3 & 42, that have the life force energy to bring things to completion, I suspect he will not stop on his quest to reignite the collective imagination.
His Nodes tell us that he has lifetimes of intuitive knowing to bring to the direction of this life to initiate—sometimes in shocking ways—a new way of being into the world. HIs Moon position may not be Gate 35, but if it is, this also is a drive for improvement and a consistent hunger for new experiences. Again, it’s collective, so bringing new experiences to society is very much aligned.
The final position I’ll mention is Mercury. This energy is how we think and communicate. With Gate 12 it’s the energy to speak from the emotions and heart, but in it’s detriment this could be a person who would rather be engaged in difficult, possibly even risky things rather than be bored or boring. His willingness to push against the current collective apocalyptical view of the future is very much reflected in this energy and perfectly aligned with his possible 5/1 Heretic/Investigator Profile. These are people who are here to question everything and solve problems through their deep knowledge and willingness to be unconventional.
I love when the Design is so clear and apparent. Not that Rob would need any confirmation that he’s on the right path, but he’s clearly on the right path. If you’re curious about your path or you feel like you’re struggling to find your path, looking at your own Design might be interesting and useful.
I hope your week is filled with time to dream and imagine a more beautiful future for all.
With gratitude,
